NYLT = National Youth Leadership Training

The NYLT Training Conference is offered by the Greater New York Councils, Boy Scouts of America, to help units train their Youth Leaders so they can be more effective in their Troop Leadership Positions.

The Conference provides an opportunity to present to Scouts leadership skills and living skills that are known to develop one’s leadership potential.

The conference follows a syllabus developed by the Boy Scouts of America and is conducted by local Councils with the approval of the Region and Area.

Hey Scoutmasters…

The NYLT Conference was created as a leadership development training experience for youth leaders in Boy Scout Troops. The Conference is a resource intended to help Scoutmasters be successful in their responsibility to develop their own home troop leaders.

That is why Scouts coming to GNYC NYLT need the approval of their home Scoutmaster.

We welcome Scoutmasters and their Assistants to visit and observe the activities of GNYC NYLT during the Conference. Just let us know you are planning to come.

On the final day of the course, we encourage Scoutleaders and Parents to come to camp to participate in the NYLT Closing Ceremony. (See application page for times)

Scout Leaders who have taken Wood Badge will have a greater understanding of ways you can allow your Scout Youth Leaders to apply the leadership skills they have learned at GNYC NYLT at your home troop.

We also welcome feedback from Scouts, Parents and Scoutmasters about the GNYC NYLT experience.

A special few NYLT participants are selected and invited to join the GNYC NYLT Training Staff each year.
